Donald W. Van Stone Jr. 73, of Hudson, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday December 7th 2018.

During his 12-year battle with Cancer Don always maintained his dry sense of humor, his love for life, and most importantly the love for his family who were blessed to be with him during his peaceful passing.  He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather, who found that spending time with his family is what brought him the most joy. Don always knew that family was where life began and love never ended.

Don leaves his wife of 50 years, Lynn (Valle) Van Stone; his daughters Susan Carter and her husband Greg of Hudson; Nancy C. Ruiz and her husband Jorge of Northborough, his two siblings, Ruth Ann Cady and her husband Kenneth of Omro, WI., David Van Stone and his wife Cindy of Dublin, OH. His four Grandchildren Bryan, Blake, Aiden, and Emily who he adored and were the light of his life. He also leaves behind many nieces and Nephews.

Don was born May 31, 1945 in Yuma, Az., A son of the late Donald W. Van Stone Sr. and Ruth (Bolton) Van Stone. He was raised in Santa Maria California where he graduated high school and attended Allan Hancock College.  Shortly after, Don joined the United States Air Force and honorably served his nation during the Vietnam War, earning several commendations and medals for his service. Don had a long and successful career as a business owner and as a sales consultant until retirement.

Don had a generous soul; he was always willing to selflessly give of his time, knowledge, and energy. He was an outstanding listener and always had the best advice. Spending time with his family was what brought him his greatest joy.

Don enjoyed vintage cars, boating, football, and anything that was of interest to his grandchildren. Don was a long standing member of the Santa Maria Elks and a 50-year member of the American Legion.

Don and his family would like to acknowledge and thank the nurses and staff of VNA Hospice & Palliative Care for their kindness and support during his final days.
