Karen F. (Saaristo) Sawyer

Karen F. (Saaristo) Sawyer, 75, lifelong resident of Hudson, MA, died on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Martha Wood and her husband James of Rutland, MA and Maureen Benway and her husband Todd of Holden, MA. She also leaves her two sisters, Ellen Bartolotti and her husband Salvatore of Hingham, MA, Marion Connor of Hudson, MA; her 5 grandchildren, Caitlin and Andrew Wood, Nickolas, Joseph and Matthew Benway; her two great grandchildren, Colton and Chloe Benway along with several nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Evelyn “Lori” Waldsmith and brother Edwin A. Saaristo.

Karen was born in Marlborough, MA, daughter of the late Edwin and Mary (Coady) Saaristo. She was raised in Hudson, MA attending local schools and graduated from Hudson High School class of 1964. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant with the Hudson Light & Power Department for 33 years until retiring in 2019. She was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.

Karen cherished spending time with her family, especially later with her grandchildren. She enjoyed the many trips to Sebago Lake in Maine and a good day of shopping always topped her to do list.  She enjoyed the trips to Disney World with her daughters and their families.  She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 4-7pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson for Committal Services.
