MARGARET “MARGI” A. (HOYT) NASEMANN, May 6, 2023

Margaret “Margi” A. (Hoyt) Nasemann, 87, of Westborough, MA passed away on May 6, 2023. She was born in Parkersburg, WV to her late parents, Claremont E. Hoyt and Margaret “Peggy” (Hawkins) Hoyt, on November 9, 1935, and lived in Parkersburg, Tiffin, OH, and Middleport OH, where she graduated from high school. She graduated from Marietta College in 1957 with a degree in education, where she was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. She then followed her parents to Weedsport NY, where she began her career as an elementary school teacher. On August 12, 1960, she married the Rev. Raymond Nasemann (1926-1997), who served Unitarian- Universalist churches in Perry NY, Bristol NY, and Auburn NY. They settled in Syracuse, where Margi was a sixth-grade teacher at Percy Hughes school for 10 years, and thereafter, a helping teacher and mentor starting ca. 1978.

While raising four boys, Margi attended SUNY-Cortland, and was first VP of the Syracuse teachers Association, and fought successfully for maternal leave for city school district teachers. She went on to earn a Master’s degree in education at Syracuse University, before becoming a vice principal and finally a principal of Meacham and Webster elementary schools. Margi retired on December 31, 1992, but she wasn’t done yet. She was strongly supportive of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. She was also president of the Centers for Nature Education at Baltimore Woods. She remained in Syracuse until ca. 2015, shortly after she met a second love, Glen Snowden (1932-2020). Thereafter, she slowly succumbed to emphysema and Alzheimer’s.

She is survived by her sister, Josephine and brother-in-law Burke Bero, Sr., sister-in-law Trudy Hoyt, sister-in-law Della Gregory, son Eric and daughter-in-law Bobbi Nasemann, son Brian Nasemann, son David and daughter-in-law Kalindi Nasemann, son Alan and daughter-in-law Alice Anacheka-Nasemann, grandchildren Keelan and Rebecca Anacheka- Nasemann, and 18 nieces and nephews and their spouses and numerous children.
