Michael P. DeStefano

December 28, 1923 — October 18, 2019

Hudson

Michael P. DeStefano of Hudson MA has joined his beloved wife Mildred (Kadlik). He died October 18, 2019, at age 95 having lived 19 years before joining her. Even at 95, his life was too short leaving our hearts broken. He was a very loving man and treated everyone like family, ever ready to help whenever he could. Born in Philadelphia in 1923, he moved to New Jersey and joined the military in 1943. He was a decorated WWII veteran having been awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Medal. He was wounded in the war and sent to Cushing Hospital in Framingham MA where he met his soon-to-be wife, and their long and loving romance began. They were married in 1948 and enjoyed life to the fullest. Dancing together was their passion, especially while he sang Sinatra songs to her. They enjoyed many trips to the casinos, ballroom dancing, get togethers, and card games with family and friends. He was an avid bowler with many league tournament wins to reflect his skill. He was more than happy to help out anyone who needed guidance. He was always very independent and was driving himself to the Connecticut casinos right up to his departure. He worked as a mechanic until age 92 when he reluctantly retired.

Michael is survived by his loving daughter Linda; his brother and spouse Anthony and Deborah Martino; his sister Isabell Cuccinelli; his sister-in-law Shirley Montagna; his brother-in-law and spouse Donald and Mary Kadlik; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mildred, his mother and father Philomena and Ralph, and his other siblings, Armand, Alex, and Rita.

Visitation and service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019, from 1-2 pm followed by a celebration of his life at Tighe Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street, Hudson MA 01749. A gathering thereafter will be announced at the conclusion of the service.
