Robert S. Turner, Jr.

May 9, 1955 — September 1, 2020

Hubbardston, MA

Robert "Bob" Stanley Turner, Jr., 65, of Hubbardston, MA died Tuesday, September 1, 2020 after a two year long battle with lymphoma.  He was the loving husband of Brenda (Dempsey) Turner for 41 years. Born May 9, 1955 in Waltham, MA he was the son of the late Robert S. Turner, Sr. and the late Phyllis McDonough. The family later moved to Hudson, MA where Bob graduated from Hudson High School with the class of 1973.  Upon graduation Bob worked at the computer company Digital.  Along with his full time job Bob also attended college courses in the evening where he obtained his bachelors degree in Engineering.  Eventually, Bob decided to apply for a position with the Massachusetts State Police. He graduated from the academy November 21, 1980 with the 62nd RTT class. Bob rose though the ranks and ended his 30 year career with the Massachusetts State Police as a Lieutenant in charge of the Athol, MA barracks. After retirement Bob worked part time as a groundskeeper at the Woods of Westminster golf course for several years. Along with his work at the golf course Bob enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, Bob spent many days and early mornings perched high in a tree stand or fishing the quiet rivers and streams all over Northern New England. He also had many other hobbies including cycling, tying flies, brewing his own beer and taking walks in the woods with his dog Bailey. However, his most loved activity was spending time with his family. A true family man he was at his happiest when surrounded by those he loved the most.

Bob was predeceased by his parents and also by his younger sister Caroline Keene of Hudson. In addition to his wife Brenda, he is survived by his son Robert Turner III of Lynn; his daughter Michelle Poirier and her husband Brett and their two children Ella and Brett Jr. of North Attleboro, and his elder sister Cheryl Gorman of Bourne.
