John J. Moore, 80, of Hudson, MA, formerly Sudbury, MA, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

John Joseph Moore was born in Newton, MA, to the late John and Catherine (Connolly) Moore on February 26, 1943.  He attended Our Lady School in Newton.

He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from University of Massachusetts (Boston) and his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Northeastern University. Upon graduation, he started teaching math at Wayland High School. His passion and dedication to education brought him to become Assistant Principal of Wayland Middle School and eventually, Principal of Dover Sherborn Middle School until his retirement in 1998.

John had an intense passion for sports. He played baseball throughout high school and played on the Boston State team. He was able to instill his love of sports into his children and spent many years continuing to coach little league and high school. His love of sports continued into retirement, and he spent these years on the golf course at Wedgewood Pines or Wayland Country Club, even shooting scores lower than his age.  At home, you could always find John with his headphones on watching a Patriots game or checking the score of a Red Sox Game.

John enjoyed being around people and sharing his knowledge with others. He had the ability to connect with those around him and was never shy to share his opinions with his friends and family, whether they liked it or not. He will always be remembered as someone who was willing to share his wisdom, kindness, and handyman skills to those around him.

John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Peggy Moore and his six children, Dawn Marie and her husband Bob Pechiney, Melanie Friedman, Jennifer Lawson, John Matthew and his wife, Lauren Moore, Brian and his wife, Naasia Moore, and Garrett Moore and his fiancé, Lia Odoardi. He also, leaves behind his younger sister, Kathleen Gavini and her husband, Larry and was predeceased by his older sister, Maureen Daly.
